โš ๏ธ Important โ€” Check the Photos Before You Order

Over the years, Sears had the LT1000 and LT2000 manufactured by multiple companies including AYP, Husqvarna, and MTD. That means two mowers with the same model name can use completely different deck parts. Before adding a kit to your cart, compare the product photos carefully to your existing spindles, pulleys, and belt routing. When in doubt, text us a photo at (843) 972-7500 and we'll point you to the right kit.

Why It Matters

5 Signs Your LT1000 Deck Needs a Rebuild

The LT1000 and LT2000 are tough machines, and many of them are still cutting grass 20+ years after they rolled off the assembly line. But the deck hardware โ€” spindles, pulleys, blades, and belt โ€” takes a beating every single season. When those parts wear out, the whole mowing experience falls apart.

ใ€ฐ๏ธ

Uneven Cut

Worn spindle bearings let blades wobble. The result is a lawn that looks scalped in spots and untouched in others, no matter how carefully you mow.

๐Ÿ“ณ

Excessive Vibration

A bad spindle bearing or an out-of-balance blade creates a vibration you feel in the seat. It also accelerates wear on every other deck component.

๐Ÿ”

Slipping or Shredding Belt

If your deck belt keeps coming off or is cracking and fraying, a worn pulley groove is usually the culprit โ€” not just the belt itself.

๐Ÿ”Š

Grinding or Squealing

Metal-on-metal noise from the deck almost always points to a spindle bearing that's lost its grease or has debris packed into it.

๐Ÿ’ธ

Replacing Parts One at a Time

If you've already bought a new belt this season, the pulleys and spindles aren't far behind. A full kit costs less than three separate part orders and fixes everything at once.

Know Your Mower

The LT1000 / LT2000 Was Built by More Than One Company

This is the single most important thing to understand when ordering deck parts for a Craftsman LT1000 or LT2000. The Craftsman name was a Sears brand, and Sears contracted out manufacturing over the decades. That means your mower might have been built by AYP, later absorbed by Husqvarna, or it could be an MTD-built machine โ€” and those platforms use different spindle designs, different pulley bolt patterns, and different belt lengths.

The good news: we carry kits for all of these variants. The key is identifying which platform yours is before you order.

Known LT1000 / LT2000 Manufacturers

AYP (American Yard Products)Original manufacturer for many early LT1000 models. Uses the classic 3-post 130794 spindle.

HusqvarnaAcquired AYP in 2006. Late-model LT1000/LT2000 units under this platform share many AYP-compatible parts but with updated part numbers (532xxxxx prefix).

MTDSome LT2000 variants were built on the MTD platform, which uses a different spindle and pulley configuration entirely.

๐Ÿ‘‰ How to tell them apart: Check the spindle on your deck. AYP/Husqvarna spindles mount with three bolts in a triangular pattern (part# 130794 / 532130794). MTD spindles look different and mount differently. Still not sure? Text us a photo.

LT1000 & LT2000 Deck Kits & Parts

Below is every LT1000/LT2000 deck part and kit we carry, organized by type. Complete rebuild kits are the most popular โ€” they bundle spindles, pulleys, belt, and blades into one shipment so you're not ordering piecemeal. Remember to compare product photos to your current deck before ordering.

๐Ÿ“ท Photo Comparison Tip

Before clicking "Shop" on any kit, open the product page and look at the spindle photo. Then look at your current spindle on the mower. Ask yourself:

  • Does it mount with 3 bolts in a triangle (AYP/Husqvarna) or a different pattern?
  • Does the pulley sit on top of the spindle housing, or is it integrated into a different design?
  • Does the belt path match the diagram shown?

If you're still unsure after comparing, call or text (843) 972-7500 โ€” we're happy to help you identify your platform.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

These are common questions customers search for when trying to identify the correct Craftsman LT1000 or LT2000 42-inch deck kit, belt, blades, spindles, and pulleys.

What size deck is on a Craftsman LT1000?

Many Craftsman LT1000 riding mowers use a 42-inch deck, but the LT1000 name alone is not enough to order parts. Sears used multiple manufacturers and model variations, so always check your full model number and compare your current deck parts to the product photos before ordering.

What deck belt fits a Craftsman LT1000 42-inch mower?

Many AYP/Husqvarna-built Craftsman LT1000 42-inch decks use belt 144959 or 532144959, commonly listed as a 1/2-inch by 95-inch deck belt. However, some LT1000 and LT2000 models use different belts, so confirm your model number and old belt before ordering.

What comes in a Craftsman LT1000 deck rebuild kit?

A typical 42-inch deck rebuild kit may include two spindle assemblies, two blades, spindle pulleys, idler pulleys, and a deck belt. The exact parts depend on the kit, so compare the product listing to your mower before buying.

How do I know if my LT1000 uses the 130794 spindle?

The common 130794 or 532130794 spindle is used on many AYP and Husqvarna-built 42-inch Craftsman decks. These usually have a 3-bolt triangular mounting pattern. If your spindle mounting pattern looks different, your mower may require a different kit.

Why does my Craftsman LT1000 deck belt keep coming off?

A belt that keeps coming off can be caused by worn idler pulleys, a bad spindle bearing, bent belt keepers, incorrect belt routing, pulley wobble, debris in the pulley grooves, or the wrong belt size. If a new belt keeps coming off, inspect the pulleys and spindles before replacing the belt again.

Are Craftsman LT1000 and LT2000 deck parts the same?

Some LT1000 and LT2000 42-inch decks share the same blades, belts, spindles, and pulleys, but not all of them do. Craftsman used different manufacturers over the years, including AYP, Husqvarna, and MTD, so model number and photo comparison are important.

Is it better to buy a complete deck rebuild kit or individual parts?

If only one part is damaged, an individual replacement may be enough. But if the deck has vibration, belt trouble, worn blades, or noisy spindles, a complete rebuild kit is often the better value because the main wear parts are replaced together.
